The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has opened applications for the 2024-2025 scholarships offered to Kenyan students pursuing post graduate education.
The loans ranging between Ksh200,000 and Ksh450,000 will be given to students enrolled for master’s and PhD programs in local Public or Private Universities.
However, the board has indicated that the institutions must be recognized by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
Additionally, the scholarships are tenable for 2 years for the master’s Program and 3 years for the PhD.
Application deadline has been set for August 31, 2024.
HELB Details Requirements for Application
Applicants are required to submit a letter of Admission into a full or part time program in a local public or private university recognized by the Commission for University Education.
Additionally, they ought to have attained a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division.
“Preference will be given to applicants undertaking Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Mathematics (STEAM) courses,” explained the board.
At the same time, applicants who are former HELB beneficiaries must have cleared the previous loan or be repaying it to qualify for the new loan.
How to Apply
Applicants are required to register, access, and duly complete the 2024/2025 Postgraduate Scholarship Application before the deadline.
Application forms can be accessed through the website at www.hef.co.ke.
After filling the required application details, submit the duly completed application then download and print the PGSA.
Next, proceed to have the PGSA duly signed and stamped by the relevant authorities and attach all the necessary documents as indicated in the checklist.
Scan the filled PGSA and all the attachments in PDF format as one document and send the scanned PDF copy to pgscholarship@helb.co.ke.
Also, submit online the duly completed form.
Charges for Application
Applicants will be prompted to pay a non-refundable application fee of Ksh3,000 via M-PESA once they click on the payment tab on the portal
“Do not pay any individual to process your Postgraduate Scholarship Application,” added the statement.
Moreover, the notice has indicated that geographical distribution and gender are considered during the Scholarship Award, adding that applicants from marginalized regions are highly encouraged to apply.
