New Online Steps to Register as a Teacher.


The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a new online registration procedure meant to ensure an efficient and user-friendly process.

TSC has noted that the new procedure will eliminate bureaucracy that has often made the process less accessible.

“This innovative approach to digitizing the teacher registration process not only simplifies bureaucracy but also promises to streamline the often-cumbersome procedure, making it more accessible and seamless,” a statement from TSC read in part.

The commissions also announced that the process of obtaining certificates has been fully automated.

Step by Step Process of Registration

Teachers have been directed to follow the following steps to register with the commission.

1: Access registration page
You can do that by going to the www.tsc.go.ke. website. Then select the “Online Services” tab, choose “Teachers Online Services.”

Click on “New Teacher Registration for Citizens” or “Teacher Registration for Non-Citizens.”

2: Provide your personal information including your ID number or passport number.
Also, you will be required to input your surname and provide your personal mobile phone number.

  1. Other details required in this step include, a KRA pin, an email address that will be used for the delivery of your certificate. An OTP will be sent for confirmation.

While entering your pin, specify category (ECD, Primary, or Post Primary) for citizens, provide KCSE grade and year for citizens, confirm trained teacher status for both citizens and non-citizens.

Payment Process 

  1. After filling in the details, click “Next” to save and proceed.

5: Here, you will be required to upload your certificates.

These include the primary, secondary, and tertiary certificates for non-citizens.

6: Afterwards, upload additional documents

Here, you will be directed to fill in details and upload documents such as your ID/passport, KRA pin, medical letter, certificate of good conduct, transcripts, passport photo, affidavit (if needed), certificate for persons with disability, and clearance from the commission of higher education.

  1. Finalize, payment, and subject details
    Before payment, you will enter main and other subject scores, and hours trained for each subject.  “Save and Finalize” to complete application.

You will be directed to the eCitizen payment window.

Moreover, the application fee for citizen application is Ksh1050, Ksh1,050 for non-citizen application and Ksh2,050 for duplicate certificate application.

On successful payment, review and print the summary page for record- keeping.

“Your application is submitted for verification and approval by TSC. Note: Applications are processed within 30 days of submission,” TSC notes.

Issuance of the TSC Number 

  1. You will receive an email alert with download link. After the successful issuance of your TSC Number, you will receive an email alert containing a download link.

This email will be sent to the address provided during registration.

  1. Shortly after receiving the email, you will receive an SMS from TSC.

The SMS will specify your TSC Number, the email address where the download link was sent, and a one-time password (OTP) for verification.

After receiving the email, click on the download link provided. You will be redirected to the TSC website.

On the TSC site, you will be prompted to input the OTP sent to your SMS. Verify the OTP by entering it correctly.

  1. After verifying the OTP, your TSC certificate will be downloaded automatically.

Ensure the accuracy of the information provided in the SMS and email, as they contain essential details for accessing and downloading your TSC certificate.
