UON Masters Scholarships and How to Apply


The University of Nairobi (UoN) has announced masters’ scholarships opportunities, allowing students who want to further their academic credentials to do so for free.

The university announced on Monday, August 29 that 137 master’s scholarships would be available for the school year 2022-2023.

The deadline for interested applicants is September 23, and they are advised to submit their applications during that month.

How to Apply

The notice further indicated that the scholarship is conditional and tenable for a period of two years except in course where the Master’s degree lasts longer than two years.

These fields include the Departments of Medicine and Dental Sciences, which run for four years.

Applicants should have completed and graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Nairobi in the academic year 2021/2022 except Departments of Medicine, Dental Sciences and Nursing Sciences which requires mandatory two (2) years practical experience before admission into the masters’ programs.

The scholarship is also open to students who possess either a first class honors or second class upper division.

“The masters Scholarship are for full time students only; the student has to take the maximum number of units per semester, and successful students must comply with the terms and conditions of the scholarship and complete their studies within the stipulated programme duration,” added the statement.

To apply, interested candidates must send their letters addressed to the deans of their respective schools.

Each application must include an application letter addressed to the Dean, letter of admission and certified copies of degree certificate and transcripts.

Once successful, the master’s scholarship must be taken at time of offer with no deferments or withdrawals.
