Kenya School of Law Opens Applications for Advocates Program.


The Kenya School of Law (KSL) has opened applications for the Advocates Training Program (ATP) in the upcoming 2025/2026 Academic Year.

In a statement, KSL Director Dr. Henry Mutai said that the studies are set to commence on February 10, 2025.

“It is notified to the general public that the 2025/2026 Academic Year for the Advocates Training Program (ATP) at the Kenya School of Law shall commence on 10th February 2025” read part of the statement.

KSL further listed the eligibility criteria, highlighting that interested applicants admitted into the LL. B after December 2014 and those admitted before 2014 are eligible, provided they meet listed requirements.

Applicants who are graduates of Kenyan universities or foreign universities and those who were admitted into the LL.B after 8th December 2014 must have a mean grade of C (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination KCSE) or its equivalent.

They must also have attained a minimum of grade B (plain) in English Language or Kiswahili in their KCSE.

Candidates who have attained a minimum of two (2) principals and one (1) subsidiary totaling to an aggregate of ten (10) points in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) or its equivalent, are eligible to apply.

The applicants also ought to have passed in the mandatory 16 core subjects as stipulated in the Second Schedule of the Legal Education Act, 2012.

Kenya School of Law Lists Requirements

On the other hand, the applicants must be holders of or be eligible for conferment of an LL.B degree from a university recognized in Kenya.

“Applicants holding secondary school qualifications other than those offered by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) must seek equation from any institution lawfully mandated to equate secondary school qualifications in Kenya,” notes KSL.

Applicants who are graduates of foreign universities must obtain clearance from the Council of Legal Education (CLE) and must sit and pass the Pre-Bar Examination as provided under the Second Schedule to the Kenya School of Law Act, part 1 (b) (iii).

At the same time, KSL listed requirements for applicants admitted into the LLB before December 8, 2014.

First, they ought to have passed the relevant examination of any recognized university in Kenya, hold or be eligible for the conferment of the Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL. B) of that university.

The applicants should have passed the relevant examinations of a university, university college or other institutions prescribed by the Council of Legal Education.

They must also be holders or be eligible for the conferment of the Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL. B) in the grant of that university, university college or other institution, and prior to enrolling at that university, university college or other institution.

How to Apply

Applicants seeking admission to the program must submit their applications through the online application portal available on KSL’s website www.ksl.ac.ke.

KSL listed documents that should be uploaded on the portal which include a copy of the applicant’s LL.B. degree certificate or proof of eligibility for conferment, copies of academic transcripts for the four (4) academic years, a copy of secondary school certificate(s), and a copy of national identity card or valid passport.

Two passport size colour photographs, proof of payment of the application fee, and copy of CLE clearance letter for persons with LL. B Degrees from foreign universities, and a copy of admission letter to the LL.B are the documents required in the process.

Applicants must deposit a non-refundable application processing fee of Ksh2,000/ to the KSL Account.
